Ronald Strutt, 4th Baron Belper

British soldier and equestrian Major (Alexander) Ronald George Strutt, 4th Baron Belper, lived from 28 April 1912 to 23 December 1999.

In 1934, Ronald Strutt won the National Hunt Chase Challenge Cup at Cheltenham while riding Crown Prince, which was owned by Lord Rosebery. He served as Stavros Niarchos` racing manager for a while. Persian Lancer, the winner of the Cesarewitch Handicap, was his best mount as an owner. It was ridden by Doug Smith and won in 1966. Between 1948 and 1954, he served as the Quorn Hunt`s Master.

Ronald Strutt was the son of Hon. Eva Isabel Marion Bruce and Algernon Strutt, 3rd Baron Belper. On November 15, 1940, he wed Zara Sophie Kathleen Mary Mainwaring, a child of Generis Alma Windham Williams-Bulkeley and Sir Henry Stapleton Mainwaring, 5th Baronet. Richard Henry Strutt, 5th Baron Belper, was the lone child of this union and was born on October 24, 1941.

In 1949, he divorced Zara Sophie Kathleen Mary Mainwaring, Zara would later go on to wed Peter Cazalet again, who had previously trained horses for Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
